We need a graphic designer, pronto!

As we inch closer to our deadline (Oct 28) for app completion, we are finding a few roadblocks along the way that are requiring us to rearrange our schedule and seek extra help. Obviously this is natural with any new start up, so we are not discouraged, just a bit anxious! Our goal for completing the app by Oct 28 was to present it at the Gulf & Caribbean Fisheries Institute conference in Panama on Nov 9-13. So far, we are still on track with that deadline.

But, we are in need of providing some assistance to our graphic designer working on the fish illustrations. Since we all juggle tons of other jobs and work, this project occasionally needs an extra boost from an external person to continue moving us forward. So we are putting out the call for a graphic designer who is familiar with scientific illustration, in particular fish illustration. We need the style to match that of our current designer, and of course we can offer a payment. I can provide all the details to the qualified candidate ! There is potential that this designer could stay on board for the later phases of the app and join our team permanently, as determined by the quality of the work produced and the ability to meet deadlines and provided they could make this project a permanent addition to their workload.

If anyone knows a designer that fits this description, please leave a comment with their name and email address, or feel free to email us directly at islamarexp@gmail.com

Thank you! Stay tuned for another update today regarding the second phase of testing of the app -- photos and videos to come!

About This Project

Isla Mar Research Expeditions

We are building a fish identification survey app for the iPad and Android tablets. When conducting fish surveys, scientists still use pen, paper and reference books. With this app, we would increase the accuracy of reef fish census and reef fish identification. We have the technology to promote faster and more efficient surveys for scientists, now we just have to build it.

Blast off!
