Buying the equipment!

We just purchased our first iPad and iDive housing for the project! It is currently on its way to Puerto Rico! This equipment will be used to test the prototype and functionality of the app underwater. We are continuing to work on collaborations for Android housing and tablets, this is not too far off in the future!

Our graphic designer is hard at work illustrating the remaining fish that we need for the app, and our developer, Keith, is working on the prototype! Chelsea and Keith will meet up in late August to go over final touches to the prototype, and then testing begins!

Stay tuned for more updates!

About This Project

Isla Mar Research Expeditions

We are building a fish identification survey app for the iPad and Android tablets. When conducting fish surveys, scientists still use pen, paper and reference books. With this app, we would increase the accuracy of reef fish census and reef fish identification. We have the technology to promote faster and more efficient surveys for scientists, now we just have to build it.

Blast off!
