- Cienna RomingerBackerHow do you translate GPS tracking data into insights about parental care?Jun 17, 20211
- Manrico SebastianoResearcherHi Cienna, thanks so much for supporting our project. We will use the GPS to track parents and understand how many foraging trips they make, how much time they spend at sea or at the nest, how long they leave the nest unattended and so on.. This would give us insights on the parental behaviour. Furthermore, GPS trackers will be coupled with accelerometers, therefore we will likely be able to identify a pattern of movements which overlaps with a feeding event. Thus, we will be able to understand whether chicks that get sick receive less food and less parental care. If you want further info, don't hesitate to ask :)Jun 18, 20212
- Cameron Meyer ShorbBackerI'm really excited about all the things this project can teach us about how to improve the well-being of animals in the wild. My team and I wrote more about those benefits here: https://www.wildanimalinitiative.org/blog/frigatebird-fundingJun 17, 20212
- Manrico SebastianoResearcherThanks so much for these nice words Cameron. It is indeed very exiting to be able to contribute to improve the conservation status and well-being of wild animals. Thank you for your support and the support received by Wild Animal Initiative!!Jun 18, 20211
