- Tammy BokaBackerI have a large back yard with a few large trees. I put food out for the crows a lot. It seems to me that a crow always hangs back in the trees as the others eat then they switch. It looks to me like the one that stays back in the tree is being a look out. Have you ever observed this?Feb 09, 20140
- Ben EisenkopResearcherYup, this is likely what we call "sentinel behavior" where one crow will look out for predators and such while the rest of the group feeds and then switch positions. This allows the rest of the group to concentrate more on feeding than wasting time being overly vigilant.Feb 09, 20140

- Maximus MednickBackerHey Ben (unidan) - I'm new to reddit (imaxami), but not new to my love and fascination with all things Crow. I just purchased the 2 Cornell Crow studies you linked in reddit today, and just funded a few bucks to this study, to boot. to. I'm hoping to buy the Crow Vending Machine kit later this year, and in the meantime, I'm practicing my crow calling skills with a fun little device I bought on amazon. I musta been a Crow in a past life... Keep it up and chat later!Jan 27, 20142
- Ben EisenkopResearcherWe hope you enjoy it! For the Cornell seminars, we'll be answering questions at the end, too, so you'll get another chance to interact with our group. See you then!Jan 27, 20140
