- Jason P ScheinBackerI'm eager to help fund this project. I have many wonderful memories of taking classes, and doing research at San Sal out of the research station there. I won't mention how many evenings were spent making the long trek to "The Shortstop" in "town" for drinks and conch fritters. Good luck, and have a great time! I miss it there!Jun 10, 20150
- Tiffany RazoResearcherThank you! I'm making so many memories I will never forget. The conch fritters are worth the long walk. I'll keep updating the lab notes with pictures from our trip. Thank you for spreading the word about my project!Jun 13, 20150
- Barbara SearingBackerWhat a neat project, Tiff! Can you tell the health of the coral just by looking at its color, etc? Or do you have to test a sample somehow? Barb SearingJun 06, 20150
- Tiffany RazoResearcherThank you for your support! That's a very complicated question. In the next couple of days I will be posting some general informative lab notes about corals that will probably answer some of your question. But a short answer is unless a coral is bleached or has a disease (such as white band disease) its hard to tell the 'health' of it by just looking at it. As far as taking samples, I will not be taking any samples to examine the coral 'health'. But depending on the coral research, other researchers would take samples, maybe of the coral polys or of the bacteria on the coral. I hope this answers your question. Keep watching for the coming lab notes about corals. Thanks again!Jun 13, 20150
