I noticed that you have PCR beads listed as one of your expenditures. I've read in the literature that some people use varying sized shot from shot gun shells in order to macerate samples. Just in case you need to find a way to cut funding, would this work?

Hi Adam, I think the procedure you're talking about would assist with getting higher yields of DNA in the extraction process. The PCR beads are a special concoction of ingredients used in the PCR phase, after extraction. So, macerating the samples could (in certain cases) improve the results at the PCR phase but is mostly unrelated to what the beads do.
