Stand for Infrared Thermometer Data Logger Completed
Hi everybody! As per my upcoming project "Milestone", I've finished building the portable stand that will support the infrared thermometer data logger out in the field. It was a fairly simple job, really: the flexible arm "action camera" mount is off-the-shelf, and it has a threaded hole at the opposite end from where the camera mounts on it. I took a screw adapter, designed to attach things with threaded holes to poles, and wedged it onto the top of an acrylic dowel, and then glued it in place. I used a special form of hot glue designed to work with plastics.
In the field, the plan is that the acrylic dowel will be pushed into the soil underneath the Amazon rainforest's leaf litter bed, with the top part with the screw adapter sticking out above the leaf litter bed. You can picture this as sort of like a tent peg that you might use when out camping. The waterproof case enclosing the infrared thermometer data logger has an "action camera" two-hole mount attached to it, which will be used to attach it to the flexible arm's three-hole mount.
That's all for now. I hope you're all having a lovely March.
Nick
