HIV Hybrid Phage Plasmid Designed and Looking for a Name

We have now designed the DNA plasmid that will be required to transfer, by way of homologous recombination, the eukaryotic expression cassette to to the HIV hybrid bacterial virus (phage) gene delivery vehicle.

The person to pledge the greatest amount to this project will have the final hybrid phage named after them....e.g. Jessica Nicastro backer would yield: Phage Lambda Nicastro

The person to pledge the second greatest amount to this project will have the plasmid initialed after them as pXX01, where "XX" will be replaced with the initials of the backer...e.g. Jessica Nicastro backer would yield: pJN01.

Thank you again to all of our backers for their support and shared vision for a healthy world :)

About This Project

Bacteriophages (phages) are bacterial viruses that are very safe to humans, and can be manipulated both on the genetic and physical levels.

Our lab specializes in the engineering of phage to treat human diseases. We have made a phage that can target key immune cells in the body (dendritic cells) to deliver DNA that encodes a safe vaccine that can stimulate powerful immunity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), the causative agent of AIDS.
