Another chance to help

Since posting the last "Lab Note", I have been asked by a few people if and how they can still help us out. Unfortunately, we cannot raise any more funds directly via Experiment.com

But it did get me to thinking... every time I prepare for a research trip, whether it is just down the coast or to another country, there is a seemingly endless list of things that are forgotten about until the last minute. Or things that are pulled from storage and found rusted shut and unusable. Or things that suffer catastrophic failure just before being packed away, as was the case with Caitlin's SCUBA gear last weekend.

Thankfully Amazon Prime has saved me numerous times in the past, and maybe it can once again! We have put together a list of a few items that we will need down in Panama: underwater paper, pencils, measuring tapes, etc.

So if you are one of our backers who still wants to help out, please check out the list (link below). And for ALL of our backers - without you we would not be doing this at all, so THANK YOU once again!

About This Project

Lionfish, an invasive predatory fish from the Indo-Pacific, have been altering the native reef fishes communities on coral reefs throughout the Caribbean for the past decade. In Panama, recreational divers with the Clear This Fish Foundation have been removing lionfish from reefs near Portobelo since 2009.

Our goal is to measure the success of these efforts by scientifically evaluating native fish biomass on reefs cleared of lionfish compared to nearby reefs where the lionfish remain.

Blast off!
