#VR for Everybody -- on the Radio!
Just yesterday Karen Brown of New England Public Radio (NEPR) stopped by to talk to us about our Virtual Reality for Everybody project. It was cool to show her all the stuff we're working with. We started with the simple stuff, from the old skool click-wheel viewmaster to the Oculus Rift DK2, which represents the more techno-advanced (and expensive!) end of the VR experience spectrum.

Of course we also demoed some things you can do with Google Cardboard, which is at the center of our VR making for everybody strategy. Cardboards come in flat packages, and then you fold them together to make a viewfinder.

Our project focuses experimenting with various applications of #VR for the humanities, for instance English, classics, and history. Out of our exploration and experimentation we produce pathways-- blueprints-- that anyone can follow for making their own low cost VR projects using easily obtainable technologies they already have, like cell phones. We invest our time and expertise to experiment and assess, so that others can move more quickly to scholarship and creativity.
This means that we need demo units that we use to create our prototypes and also share with people who want to learn more!
