Pre-purification agarose gel image of a trial amplicon & index PCRs using sequencing primers designed in-house

While waiting to raise the requisite funds, we have been exploring protocol options that will help us implement the project on budget. To this extent we designed and optimized metabarcoding sequencing primers compatible with Illumina platform utilizing truseq adapters that we already had in the laboratory. With the grant cheque having been received by our custodian in the US and awaiting its cashing, this last week we have completed preparing the first batch of libraries and shipped to Macrogen, the Netherlands, for sequencing.

Crowdfunding a project is a great way to bring ideas to life, especially when you're looking to reach a specific audience or niche. If you're planning to publish your work or launch something creative, platforms like https://lulu-publishing.pissedconsumer.com/review.html can be a big help. I’ve used their services before, and they offer an excellent range of options for self-publishing, whether it’s for books, periodicals, or other media. They make it easier to get your content out into the world with a professional touch. Has anyone else here used it for a project? What was your experience like?

This is great progress, to have the primers optimized. I look forward to reading more about this work after the sequencing is done.

About This Project

Coral symbionts provide the host with nutrition and adaptive capacity to environmental changes. This potential is hardly integrated in restoration plans. This project will characterize microbes from corals in artificial and natural reefs to identify taxa associated with responses to stressors for use as indicators in monitoring. Taxa associated with promoting health and resilience will be recommended for use as environmental probiotics or in microbiome engineering to improve coral survival.
