Hi Janna, my name is Ahnjili and I am a neuroscience student and I am writing my final dissertation on how interference affects memories in rats. Over the last two semesters I've been focusing on sleep patterns and memory consolidation and hence I've taken a great a great interest in your project. If you are at all interested in having a lab assistant (unpaid or paid) over the summer of 2015, it would be an honour for me to take that role.

Your research interests me on a personal level. I'm a 66 year old woman with memory issues. I did one-on-one testing with a psychologist and found no problems. But in my daily life I'm often forgetful. I have to get up every couple hours during the night and also have mild sleep apnea. So anything that could help me get more quality sleep is of interest. I wonder, though. Say the research supports your hypotheses... Do you have any ideas about how to make sleepware that would be affordable? I hope you get the funding you're seeking. Hi Julie, thanks so much for your support. I hear often from those with sleep issues that they feel forgetful, yet they have no memory issues "on paper." Are you currently on apnea treatment? Before entering grad school, I was studying the link between cognitive decline and sleep apnea. It's still unclear whether sleep apnea is a direct cause for forgetfulness, but I can definitely say that apnea treatment is beneficial for maintaining cognitive functioning. Anyway, I personally do not have a plan for making this technology affordable, but a few colleagues in neighboring departments at UMass do. Hopefully we can put our heads together and come up with a prototype -- but the research must come first! Feel free to keep in touch with any sleep questions, and thank you again :)
