- Margaret FletcherBackerI am a novice beekeeper in Brisbane living on a small city acreage and would like to learn more about growing bee friendly gardens that will provide both pollen and nectar for bees. Good luck with this project.Dec 15, 20161
- Removed AccountResearcherDear Margaret, thank you very much for your interest and your help. For a bee friendly garden, try not to mow the lawn too much so that the bees can feed on native flowers and don't use pesticides. We also tend to forget that bees need a constant source of water, and that is easy to provide ! You can also build an insect hotel for solitary bees ( http://www.sgaonline.org.au/insect-hotels/ ) they are important pollinators. Some people also put Australian native stingless beehives in their garden, it's very interesting to watch.Dec 15, 20161

- Removed AccountResearcherThank you very much William. I also think we need more applied research in beekeeping.Dec 15, 20160
- Peter BerxBackerHi, this sounds like a good project. I have a similar experiment running here but without the tags. Good luck! I hope you will reach your goal.Dec 14, 20161

- Rachael BonoanHow many hives will you be using for this study?Dec 14, 20161
- Removed AccountResearcherBecause we want to minimize the cost of this project and because we are only allowed to keep a limited number of hives in the Uni, we were thinking about using 3 hives per treatment. Then we will take a few hundreds of bees from those hives (newly emerged bees, they don't have the scent of their colony yet) and put them together in one hive equipped with RFID tags (the chips).Dec 14, 20160
- GasarBackerBonjour, nous attendrons avec impatience vos résultats. Notre association réalise un essai de nourrissement en France avec du Beefondant + Protéines. La nourriture est une des clés pour la survie de nos ruches en hiver. Bonne chance. jean-lucDec 10, 20161

- Michaut ChristopheBackerDear All, I am also a beekeeper (amateur, not professional !!) but I used to work in a company producing an antivarroa medicine in the past. And now, together with a pharmacist friend, we work on a complementary feed recipe. Your study is of top interest. But another major topic is the bee intestine microbiota. Extrapolated from other species where microbiota is the key for good survival and safe growth, we think we can have an effect on it (organic acids, polyphenols or essential oils). We could have further discussions together if you wish. All my best wishes for this study.Nov 28, 20161
- Removed AccountResearcherThank you for your comment Christophe. Indeed the intestine microbiata is a major topic and it has been very poorly studied so far. It is good that you are looking at it.Nov 29, 20160
