Worthy undertaking. If you accomplish what you are setting out to do, this could be only the beginning. Please consider involving a GIS/Remote Sensing specialist to potentially help you quantify the impact of your project as well as to help you plan and redirect as needed. Reach out if you want leads on this front. There is a professor/researcher at Columbia University, NYC, NY, with Africa experience, that may be able to assist and/or answer questions. Be safe on your travels.
