- Jacob HoyleDon't forget about the pumpkin sequences! Cucurbid breeders might be interested in the genotyping information that could be gleaned from a 1920s prize winning variety.Nov 01, 20160
- Michael GaylorResearcherCertainly a great new way for us to think about our sequencing ambitions on this project Jacob! Thanks for planting that seed (oh that was bad!) in our minds! :-)Nov 01, 20160
- Lizbeth VideauBackerThis promises to be a dream of a project for student experience, bacterial mutational info, environmental data, and, of course, the inevitable Unanticipated Results! Very, very exciting, and I'm quite proud to be a tangential part of it.Oct 31, 20160
- Michael GaylorResearcherSo many thanks for your enthusiastic backing Lizbeth! You hit the proverbial nail on the head....we're all about Unanticipated results!...the golden honey (or perhaps pumpkin)-sweet nectar of scientific inquiry, right? What it's all about! Your awesomeness coefficient is fast approaching infinity! Thanks again! The DSU Pumpkin Science TeamOct 31, 20160

- William J. DavisOnly tangentially related, but I thought I'd pass this along: Chemistry of Pumpkins http://cen.acs.org/articles/93/i40/Periodic-Graphics-Chemistry-Pumpkins.htmlOct 24, 20160
- Michael GaylorResearcherWilliam, This is wonderful! Thanks for sharing! We certainly knew some of this chemistry (like beta-carotene), but we were not in tune with the chemistries of the canned pumpkin and aroma compounds. Neat stuff that is actually perfectly timed to be included as real-world/relevant examples in my Organic Chemistry class (in which we were just today discussing the alkenes and their derivatives. Perfect! I'm sure my students will agree :-) Thanks again! The DSU Pumpkin Science TeamOct 24, 20160
- Michael GaylorResearcherMany thanks for your gracious backing and encouraging words! We're making progress! Of the eight projects comprising the Fungi Grant Challenge program, our project is leading the way with total numbers of backers and SECOND in funding progress. Given the stiff competition, we like our chances! Thanks again!Oct 23, 20160
