I'm in contact with a few babies affected by the Zika virus during pregnancy and this is something that is urgent in Brazil. Your work is very very important for our next generation.

Hi. I am a master's student at the Centre of Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI), Paris. Please let me know if I could be of any help to this fantastic project. Although my research area is primarily focussed on autism and citizen science, I could for example help to create and manage a community around the project.

I would like to contribute to your Zika research project by lending my expertise in Bio-informatics, specifically DNA Discovery. I have developed a novel algorithm for creating genetic tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment options of many diseases. My algorithm... * Represents a generalized solution to the problem of finding the causal genotypes behind differing phenotype * Creates very accurate predictive tests for profiling new patients of unknown status * Does not require any a priori knowledge about gene function * Has been validated with great success using publicly available Gene Expression and DNA Methylation data sets I can send you a slide presentation that includes several examples. I´m a anxious dad waiting his baby. We are very worried with everything that happens with poor brazilian familys, especialy in brazil northeast. We hope our little participation can help with this research.

As a Brazilian oustide my country, I really want this project to help the most vulnerable people who can't afford expansive exams and end up with complications due to lack of diagnosis.

Not only Brazil, rapid testing is also needed in other countries. Would be great if there's a Forum on Zika virus in Hong Kong by your team.

I am really enthusiastic with the participation of civil society directly in science projects. I think this kind of funding has a great future and gives the opportunity to scientists and people to address our problems together with transparency and efficiently.

Hi all, I'd be interested in chatting with one of the researchers about this project and the Experiment.com process and experience, on behalf of the Global Health Technologies Coalition, to inform a blog and so we can share more information on this project and the platform with our members. If anyone is available to answer a few questions, contact me at kkelley@ghtcoalition.org. The Global Health Technologies Coalition (GHTC) works to save and improve lives by encouraging the research and development of essential health technologies. We are a coalition of more than 25 nonprofit organizations advancing policies to accelerate the creation of new drugs, vaccines, diagnostics, and other health tools that bring healthy lives within reach for all people. GHTC is housed at PATH and funded in part by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Thanks! Best, Kat Kelley

This is truly a strong and compelling proposal! I wish you all the best of luck in not just achieving your fundraising goal, but also gaining the most amount of backers for the additional Zika challenge reward! If you do end up getting the reward, I know a place that has a "ready to use" NGS RNA-Seq platform...
