We would LOVE for you to spread the word to them for assistance supporting this project! We had not considered adding marine mammals before, mostly because they are so rare for us to see on visual census. But if the interest was there we would consider it!!

Finally got on the phone with a researcher and not an intern, and when he heard that marine mammals might possibly be added he was very excited. I'll let you know how much of an interest there is hopefully soon. The clock is ticking but I believe you can reach your goal.

The Institute of Marine Mammal Studies places a strong emphasis on educating future marine biologists and have several internship programs for students and one of the most prominent ways they work to educate is through identification of different species .. Their focus is of course mostly on Marine Mammals, but there is some overlap with sharks and invasive fish species. They also conduct research with a number of universities which do not focus mostly on Marine Mammals and reptiles but there is overlap in studying sharks and invasive fish species. I feel like they would be able to use it but I am talking to them now to find out if that is the case. I'll be trying to get them to get closer to your funding goal, they will love the idea that the money made will all be going to causes they all support intensely. Do you have have any plans to expand the app to include marine mammals and reptiles in addition to fish?

Good luck guys! Do you still need an institution to pilot the app? I may have just the right one in mind.

This project can really make a difference in fisheries management in the Caribbean by facilitating fish surveys and the training of students and volunteers. Puerto Rico Sea Grant congratulates you on the development of this novel product.
