Yes, they are well known for making lovely bonsai! The only thing these trees can't tolerate is frost, so they wouldn't do well in climates that regularly go below freezing.

This is actually pretty tricky. The fruits need to be left in a compost heap for weeks to months, depending on their ripeness and outside conditions. The length of time varies widely based primarily on the depth of soil but also the climate it experiences. To be honest it's actually a very difficult plant to grow. Hey Roma, I get my seeds from Silver Hill Seeds, based in south Africa. Technically you'll need a permit from the USDA to have them shipped, but these are relatively easy to obtain. I'm sure the folks at Silver Hill could help you out. http://www.silverhillseeds.co.za
