Progress report

We have managed to produce the antigen needed for the immunization ahead of the planned schedule (April 1st, 2019)! To all potential donors, please consider donating to the project so we will be able to purchase the AD model mice ahead of time, and cover the costs of the antigen production. The sooner this project gets funded, the faster we will be able to start the time consuming behavioral experiments that are needed for establishing and validating this AD vaccination.

About This Project

Oxidized forms of the peptide beta-amyloid (Aβ) are considered to be toxic to the brain, leading to the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Based on our preliminary data, we hypothesize that an immunization of an AD-model mice with a recombinant protein enriched with the oxidized amino acid methionine sulfoxide will cause the removal of toxic Aβ from brain. Consequently, this treatment is expected to inhibit the development of AD and alleviate cognitive impairment.
