Today, the project is successful thanks to the Experiment Foundation. They recognized this frugal science Project, which started in Professor Manu Prakash's Frugal Science class in 2020. there I met Professor Fabian Pease and began working under their mentorship on this problem. Our initial creation was a syringe vacuum pump, which Professor Manu found fascinating. We then experimented with more syringes, maximizing their potential.
Subsequently, we tested various types of pumps: rotary vane, Toepler, syringe, and peristaltic. We discovered that a peristaltic pump is a very low-cost option and made our first prototype using plumbing parts, finding that it could work to achieve our goal. We have now developed a version with laser-cut parts and are continually working on design changes to maximize its performance.
