People's Harvest Forum

I'm just back from the People's Harvest Forum, an annual event in San Francisco that focuses on topics including food sovereignty, animal liberation, and veganic agriculture. There were some great talks and panels, including a few featuring veganic farmers and vegan permaculturists from all across the United States, covering issues such as how to support small-scale farms, the challenges of veganic farming, different forms of capital in vegan permaculture systems, and how to support a vegan food system from the ground up. It was heartening to see the attendance at the event increased from last year, too!

About This Project

Veganic farmers grow crops organically and without farmed animal products such as manure and blood, feather, and fish meals. Veganic farming offers a range of potential environmental and human health benefits while aligning with vegan values. We will conduct interviews with veganic farmers across the United States to better understand farmer motivations and experiences; farmer-identified best practices; and farmer needs, including resources essential to growing the veganic agriculture movement.

Blast off!
