Dr. Won Min Park is an Assistant Professor in the Tim Taylor Department of Chemical Engineering at Kansas State University. He earned his B.S. from Hanyang University, M.S. from KAIST, and Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology, all in chemical engineering. Following his postdoctoral training in biology and biological engineering at MIT, he joined Kansas State University, where he has been establishing a research program in protein nanoengineering. Leveraging his interdisciplinary expertise, Dr. Park's research focuses on the fundamental principles and applications of nanoscale protein structures to address challenges in biological systems. By utilizing proteins as primary building blocks, his group designs nanostructures with precisely controlled structural features, properties, and functionalities. This approach enables the genetic programming of novel functionalities into biological systems, offering solutions in agriculture, environmental sustainability, biosensing, and neuroscience. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER award, which supports his research on modular protein origami, a strategy to genetically program functional biomaterials.
