About
I have BS and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and Washington State University, respectively. After doctoral studies, I worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). I have been a faculty member in Chemical Engineering at the University of Toledo since August 2009. My primary interest is in bioprocessing for production of bioproducts and biofuels. More specifically, I am actively pursuing research on:
Ø Quantifying phototrophic growth and lipid-accumulation kinetics as they are influenced by simultaneous interactions between light (quality and irradiance), carbon dioxide concentrations, pH, temperature and nutrients; and
Ø Strategies for economical downstream conversion of microalgae to high value products (e.g. pigments, proteins and other bioactive molecules) and fuels;
