Never, after sprinting to the door, shine your flashlight down the corridor. When you turn on your light, any animatronics that are standing close will start to charge at you. Instead, give yourself a few seconds flagle to listen before turning on the light (which admittedly becomes harder to do as the animatronics become more active). Close the door if you hear anything that isn't part of the background music for the game. In fact, if you have any doubts about a noise, shut the door. Although it's not a sure thing, it might be of use to you.
