I am a marine scientist working at the intersection of microbiology, chemistry, ecology, and toxicology, with a research focus on how anthropogenic stressors affect marine ecosystems and foundational species like picocyanobacteria. My long-term goal is to expand scientific understanding of how ocean microbes respond to environmental change, especially through their cell-surface chemistry and its links to aggregation, interaction, and biogeochemical function. Over more than two decades, I have built an interdisciplinary research career defined by technical versatility and collaboration. My experience includes contaminant extraction, large-scale fish bioassays, and research spanning Deepwater Horizon oil spill impacts and Arctic polar bear health, leading to peer-reviewed publications and manuscripts under review. I am drawn to this science because it links the smallest scale of microbial life to the biggest questions in ocean change, and because I want my research to be both fundamental and useful.
