About
Kate is a 2nd year University of Chicago undergraduate studying Biological Chemistry and Anthropology. Her past experience includes conducting phenotyping research into transgenic crops as an intern for the Busch Lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences. At the University of Chicago, she is currently studying protein homeostasis and growth rates in Acinetobacter Baumannii as a member of the Green Lab, and RNA Binding Proteins in Arabidopsis in the He Lab. She has a deep love of learning and research in general and is most at home when in a lab. She also is very passionate about sustainable agriculture and alternative proteins - believing cultivated meat will one day replace traditional meat in the consumer market. Working on this project is an opportunity to make a meaningful and timely impact in sustainability.
When not studying or doing research, she can be found reading, baking, thrifting, or embarking on archaeological digs.
