Joseph Schwartz is a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Iowa. At Northeastern, he teaches courses in interpersonal communication and health communication. His research explores the role communication plays in disease prevention, particularly HIV, as well as HIV/PrEP stigma and the healthcare experiences of sexual and gender minority populations. He publishes in journals such as Health Communication and the Journal of Homosexuality and regularly presents at national and international conferences. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, cooking, baking, bike riding, and spending time outdoors.
