Ph.D. Student in Plant Biology
More
I am a second year Ph.D. student in Plant Biology in Cornell University, and I am currently working in the Gunn Lab. I previously worked with Dr Zhen Guo Oh on a recombinantly expressed Rubisco from the hornwort Anthoceros agrestis, and we found that it is a Rubisco with exceptional kinetic properties that shows potential for improving photosynthesis in crop plants like tobacco. I am now working on this project which seeks to replace the native Rubisco in tobacco with this hornwort Rubisco, in the hopes for improved photosynthetic efficiency and growth. Apart from this, I am also interested in the diversity of Rubiscos from bryophytes, a larger clade of plants that is often understudied, including mosses, liverworts, and hornworts.
