Since 2010, I have been working in the field of developmental biology and genetics of craniofacial structures, including the development of the craniofacial skeleton. In this field, I have gained extensive experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques.Since 2016, I have focused on investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the regenerative response in vertebrate animal models such as Ambystoma mexicanum. Using this model, I have been working on the regeneration of craniofacial tissues such as the jaw and dental organs. In addition, for more than five years, my team and I have been studying the biology of stem cells derived from human dental pulp with the goal of advancing the development of regenerative therapies in this field.Currently, I serve as director of the laboratory and the Genetics, Regeneration, and Cancer Research Group at the University of Antioquia, providing scientific leadership for projects related to developmental biology, regenerative biology, and mesenchymal stem cells.
