About
I conduct research that focuses on the promotion of healthy behaviors through modification of physical, social, and policy environments. I am especially interested in applying an ecological approach to promotion of physical activity and healthy eating in rural and other underserved populations. I have conducted intervention research to promote physical activity and healthy eating in school and afterschool settings, increasing walking behaviors in rural communities, and reducing obesity in inner city youth. My research has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the US Health Resources and Services Administration among others.
