Vivian Chumbe is a Research Scientist at Octavia Carbon, the Global South’s first DAC company based in Nairobi, Kenya. She focuses on materials research, characterization, and optimization of novel materials to integrate them into DAC systems and scale them effectively. With a background in analytical chemistry, Vivian is expanding her expertise in materials science and is particularly passionate about developing and integrating materials with novel technologies to solve existing problems and scaling them for real-world applications.
She has hands-on experience in material characterization, data analysis, and material enhancement, particularly in sorption systems, to improve material performance in DAC applications. Her expertise extends to designing experiments, interpreting results, and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to accelerate material discovery and deployment.
