About
I am a 26 year old Tucson,Az native who is in the midst of my conquest of science. I attended The University of Arizona and am pursuing a degree in Public Health with an emphasis on Occupational Health. In August 2013, I moved across the country to Buffalo, Ny start to pursue a Masters Degree in Nutrition/Advanced Practice Dietetics at D'Youville College.
I believe I was born with a passion for science. My dad has a Masters in Chemistry and was a research fellow at The University of Illinois.I spent my summers at science camp, and my after school hours in science and engineering clubs. From ages 5-8, I wanted to be an astronaut (I was insanely jealous when I had to attend "in the woods camp" in Prescott,Az,while my brother attended Space Camp in Ft Lauderdale). At age 7, I remember telling my father that I would, "probably work in space", when I grew up. He jokingly responded, "What kind of space?". Of course, I didn't realize that I needed to differentiate between outer space and other kinds of space. From ages 8-12 I wanted to be a meteorologist. Not the kind that looks cute on the news, the kind that actually tracks the weather, you know, with models and stuff. In high school, I developed a love for health and bioscience. I got a late start in college, but I'm finally on track with my career goals.
I hope to complete important research during my Masters program, but I am attending a small college, not a massive research institution. Funding for projects is harder to come by in these circumstances. So, I was thrilled when Microryza followed me on Twitter. Crowd Funding may be one of my best sources of funding.
I intend to back as many projects as I can afford. I also intend to ask for backers on my projects. Thanks in advance!
