Paper on train air quality study accepted and now available!

Hellosupporters!

2021 Update. I have updated the links below:

I am happy to let you know that after a comprehensive peer-review, our paper on the trainstudy was accepted for publication. You can see both the 2014 and 2015 papers on my website. Both were peer reviewed. This is a technical paper, so you might not understand all aspects, but a summary of the results are also on mywebsite at:

https://blogs.uw.edu/djaffe/train-study/

I am also happy to answer any specific questions that you have after reading the paper.

Thank you again for your support. Your support hasmade a significant contribution to our understanding of this important issue. I suspect this is not the last study my group will do on this. Stay tuned for more…..

Dan

Dan this is fantastic! I know this is probably next on your todo list, but I'd love to see how particle concentrations as you move a little further from the tracks!

About This Project

There is a proposal to significantly increase the number of trains carrying coal through Washington State, but at present little is known about the likely health impacts from this plan. Our project will examine air quality for people living near the tracks for both fine particulate (diesel) and larger particles that may be associated with coal dust. Phase 1 was completed last year. Phase 2 takes place in Fall 2014 in Bellingham (campaign here).
Blast off!
