Hello to all of you!
The crowdfunding is almost over, we just need the last push to reach our goal!
Thank you so much for all the support and help so far. The cost of the research has increased a lot because the boat to go to Cachagua Island, the one with the least human interference, has a cost of 90 dollars, and we calculate that we will have to go there about 10 times.
Yesterday I had a meeting with the person in charge of the protected areas in this region of Chile, and she was informing me that the permits are in process but we will be able to start with the research anyway. Right now the penguins are starting to lay and incubate their eggs, so we will have to wait for the chicks to hatch and grow a bit to make sure we don't interfere with their reproduction (and have a bit more faecal samples). The welfare of the penguins is the priority, so we will be on the lookout to start taking samples as soon as the time is right.
