Hello everyone! Apologies for the lack of activity on this page, we appreciate your constant support and wanted to give you all some updates on our progress. My name is Siobhan Geraghty and I am the newly hired summer research assistant, I am thrilled to be apart of this project and help advance this crucial research towards publication. We have further expanded our research population in order to diversify our literature searches and include any minority group that may experience workplace discrimination. This list now includes: Muslims, African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, and LGBTQI. Though the expansion has revealed more relevant articles, the findings are still very limited in evaluating workplace discrimination towards these groups. I am deeply searching for more literature and ultimately will revise our literature review once I have determined that no further relevant publications exist. Ultimately, I hope to have a well-developed research tool by the end of the month. This will be a huge stride in our continuing work! We truly appreciate your support and patience; updates will continue to be posted and please do not hesitate to ask any questions regarding this work.
About This Project
Muslim healthcare providers constitute a growing, diverse and underrepresented population in the U.S. Culturally inclusive dress policies in the workplace are not standard. This study explores how healthcare leaders and partners perceive Muslim healthcare providers, including those who wear hijab. The data will provide information that can help initiate changes in organizations to provide an environment that enables Muslim healthcare providers to feel comfortable providing optimum healthcare.
