Looking for Unicorns

I imagine the sweet spot for women's digital health as being at the center of a Venn Diagram. On one side we have market research. I've been leading this part of our work and brought on a recent MDA grad with experience in women's health and biotech to help. The market research involves reviewing hundreds of FemTech companies and tagging them with relevant data points, such as whether or not they have an app or a connected device (or both), the clinical area they serve (pregnancy? fertility? pelvic pain?) and what their FDA approval status is (if any.) This is helping narrow down the list to what I like to call "digital health as intervention." We want to find the companies that are promising to actually TREAT SOMETHING. These companies will be moving towards the middle of the Venn Diagram.
Then, on the evidence side of the Venn Diagram we are conducting multiple peer-reviewed published literature searches to surface articles that study women's digital health interventions in comparison with the standard of care. Mia's been leading this with the help of the UNC librarians. This is turning out to be a mountain of papers (thousands...) so we have our work cut out for us!
Our Guide to FemTech for Clinical Care will include and describe the unicorn FemTech apps and devices that are 'digital health as intervention' and have the research to support that the intervention improves clinical outcomes in comparison with standard of care. VOILA!
