New Year, New Team Member!

Dear MyHealthEd Supporters,

Happy holidays! We are excited to announce that Cristina Leos will be joining the MyHealthEd team this spring as we develop our new online sex education intervention for high school students in Eastern North Carolina. Please see her introductory blog post below and welcome hear to the team!

Hi everyone! My name is Cristina and I am happy to announce that I am joining the MyHealthEd team! I am a doctoral student at UNC Chapel Hill and my current research focuses on Latino adolescent development, sexual health, and mental health. I am originally from El Paso, Texas, which has a huge Latino population, and my interest in adolescent sexual health developed partly because many of my own friends growing up became teen parents and partly because there remain striking disparities in pregnancy and STI rates for minority teen populations. After I graduate, I plan to continue doing public health research to improve Latino teen health.

I am excited to join the MyHealthEd team because I believe comprehensive sex ed is a vital tool for improving teen sexual health. I look forward to working with others who also strive to improve teen health, and to apply what we’ve learned to future projects!

We wish you all a happy and healthy 2016!

Best,

Liz, Vichi & Cristina
