A New Goal
I am a firm believer in having ambitious goals, and in pushing yourself to accomplish them -- and then pushing yourself to new ones! Now, thanks to your support, we have the chance to do just that.
As of today, we're increasing our goal and shooting for $7,250. The original budget of almost $6,000 was a bare-bones, by the skin-of-our-teeth estimate of what it would take to excavate those three dinosaurs this summer; additional funds will give us a little greater flexibility in how we conduct the excavation. Specifically, it will allow us to purchase additional equipment that will make the entire operation more efficient and safe, both for our staff and volunteer crew, and for the fossils. We have been daydreaming for years about things like frame packs to help us haul large and heavy supplies, and fossil jackets over long distances on foot (do you need to say on foot?). With three dinosaurs this year, this equipment is almost a must have! Every bit of equipment will benefit the Bighorn Basin Dinosaur Project's expeditions well into the future - you're investing in paleontology!
Please continue to help by sharing our project, and the news of our ambitious new goal, to anyone who might be interested in supporting our paleontological mission. And of course, if you haven't already, there's no reason to wait until the end of the campaign to donate. We have 15 days to go, and based on the incredible interest and generosity we've already seen, we know we can do this! Thank you all, once again, so very much. - Jason
