New FPLC for purifying peptide!

I picked up a new (to me!) Fast Performance Liquid Chromatograph (FPLC) today donated from a nearby biotechnology company. This new instrument will make purifying the protein more quantifiable. It is necessary for process development to be able to follow steps consistently in the bioreactor and purification steps, and until now I had only a very old one that worked for purification but every step had to be done manually. Here is a selfie with the new FPLC

About This Project

Death by snake venom in India, Africa, and South America are substantial. Traditional antidotes are prohibitively expensive ($100/dose) and have side effects. A new peptide-based antidote shows promise in treating certain snake venoms with no side effects. However, this needs further testing in Indian snakes, and needs to be cheaper. With your help, we can test this antidote in four prevalent Indian snakes, and begin designing a low cost bioprocess – targeting a $1/dose treatment.
