We are in second place!Dear Backers, 
Thank you so much for your support. It makes me feel good to know that so many people care about the research of undergraduate students at Sam Houston State University.
We are in second place! This is great but we are only about 20 backers behind first place. I think we can catch up! I think we can pull ahead!  I think we can raise money for the sheds and support longterm undergraduate student research projects in forensic science at SHSU.
PLEASE! I ask you all to share this research project via email, Facebook, and word of mouth this weekend. Please ask your friends to donate and help us pull ahead by 6 pm on March 8th!

About This Project

How Insects and Bacteria Can Solve Murder Mysteries

Sam Houston State University

We study how communities of insects and bacteria inhabiting human cadavers change through time. This pattern of change, or succession, is orderly and predictable and can be used to estimate the time since death (TSD) at a crime scene. We predict that local aspects of the environment, such as rainfall or enclosure, can influence interactions between insects and bacteria. By understanding these aspects, we can better predict how insects and bacteria will be affected and better estimate the TSD.
