Brain Surgery Dropout Chronicles: Ebola Edition, Week 2
Currently working on a more extensive update, but wanted to send the major highlights of the past 2 weeks:
- Unfortunately, the number of deaths from ebola in west Africa has doubled since the start of the campaign and there are projections of up to and over 20,000 deaths in the coming 6 months! It is getting pretty real. As such, after internal discussions, we at OncoSynergy have decided to make the ebola project a greater priority by pledging to match every donation 1 to 1 so we can expedite the start of our proposed investigations.
- We have hit a new campaign milestone by raising over 50% of our goal! Let's keep the momentum going.
- We have pledged to donate any excess funds raised on the Experiment.com campaign to the emergency ebola response on the ground in Sierra Leone through the Wellbody Alliance.
- I've recently been contacted by a party who has offered to facilitate funding and testing of OS2966 in ebola patients in west Africa. A very intriguing proposition... but obviously many issues to seriously consider. Obviously, I would like to finish these initial laboratory experiments before jumping into humans. I will let you know how this lead pans out. But, just think, if we do start clinical testing one day it is thanks to all our Experiment backers!
We expect additional media coverage in the coming days based on our updates above. One of the first new articles to come out summarizing our progress so far was written by Jim Radke of the Rare Disease Report.
Finally, here is that live KCBS radio interview I did on Saturday, August 23 (in my swimming trunks from the hotel business center whilst on vacation in Kauai) as recorded by my wife (heard cheering at the end of the recording, haha): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS9GEu8n8TA
Please keep spreading the word about the #EBOLAproject. We have a chunk of change to raise still to hit our goal but I know we can do it.
More soon,
Shawn
