Fun with pilots

We are so excited to take our first crack at fundraising through experiment.com! This past spring we had our firstopportunity to implement Expect Respectat Licking Heights High and study some of the short-term impact. The responsereceived from students and faculty was overwhelmingly positive (special shoutout to Philip Auer, Shelly Hoop, Cathy Satterwhite, Ken Kramer, and PhilipWagner for all of their support!) in this first run we gathered responses fromjust over 100 students, about half of whom actually participated in Expect Respect. Early returns indicatethat those who participated in the program had significantly healthierattitudes on dating violence and sexual consent. Our results were especiallyrobust among adolescent males. Now, this data was collected within a week ofthe program’s completion so it may only represent a short-term impact. That’swhy it’s so important for us to go back and collect data. We want to understandthe long-term impact of our program and look at ways that we can make sure thatour anti-violence education has a lasting effect.

While our initial goal would give us enough fundingfor 3 schools, we would also love to expand as much as possible, and the morefunding is available the more students we will be able to reach.  We appreciate any support and feedback youcan offer!

About This Project

Sexual violence destroys lives. Sadly, this violence is often perpetrated by people we trust and love. The patterns that trap individuals in abusive relationships begin in adolescence. The goal of this project is to educate adolescents on how to build healthy romantic relationships. We want to give them a better understanding of the root causes of sexual and relationship violence, and teach them how to protect themselves and their peers.
