All Systems Go!

I have exciting news: all the simulations for the initial run are started and computing. I started the last 8 simulations this evening after assuring the funds were received. Two of the simulations have completed already, and I am already looking at the data.

I anticipate the simulations taking between 10-20 days to complete the calculation to steady-state; or at least two the point that the transient behavior can be understood.

Already, the information is providing insight into the dynamics at work in the hyperpolarized Xenon cells. I'm very excited to watch how the simulation evolve, and the insight they will give us into creating more efficient polarizers.

About This Project

The American Lung Association estimates that 32 million Americans are affected by lung diseases, many of which are still not fully understood. Hyperpolarized xenon (HP Xe) MRI lung imaging is emerging as an important tool to better understand lung disease and develop treatments. However, the potency of HP Xe is up to three times less than its theoretical potential, which has hampered economical application. We’ve developed a computational model to identify inefficiencies in the process.
