Preparations!A big thank you to everyone! We have flights to Trinidad! We are currently gathering genetic sampling supplies and hashing out the travel and supplies budget, which I will send to you soon.  I am currently working with our genetics expert, Dr. Caren Goldberg at Washington State University to get these supplies.  If you have any questions about our progress, please feel free. Again, thank you for your support. To our supporters in Trinidad, we will be hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Field Naturalists' Club meeting on August 11.  Be there!

Using Environmental DNA to assess the endangered golden tree frog populations in Trinidad

In two isolated "sky islands" on the island of Trinidad live an IUCN critically-endangered species, the golden tree frog. We know little about the golden tree frog, so it is very difficult to help protect this rare species. It is nationally and internationally recognized as threatened and important for conservation and cultural reasons. To understand this endangered species we need to develop two new non-invasive methods to study them: environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling and vocalization surveys.
