WE DID IT!

As you all have probably seen, we have successfully reached our fundraising goal! This is absolutely incredible. First, Magnetar Space would like to thank everyone here for their contributions to this project. No matter how big or small, your donation is the reason we met our goal. To express our gratitude, Magnetar Space would like to display your names (or organization) on our test stand and in our research paper. We'll be contacting everyone individually with more details - yall are awesome!

Second, you can expect us to post more lab notes in the coming month with details on our test stand and rocket engine. As soon as we get our funds, we'll order our components and begin construction of our test stand with a goal of verifying our stand's requirements this Winter and completing our first hotfire this Spring. We have tons of cool photos on our twitter and Instagram, so make sure to check those out.

Again, thank you all so much. Let's light this candle!

About This Project

Nozzle flow separation is a condition where exhaust gases in a rocket nozzle cause severe pressure fluctuations that can damage a spacecraft. The Schmucker Criterion provides insight as to where this flow separation occurs, but it tends to become inaccurate at smaller scales. Using a small scale composite combustion chamber, we want to use vibration data and nozzle extensions to determine exactly what nozzle expansion ratio causes damage to our carbon fiber material during test.
