Quick update!

Aloha!

Long time no talk! unfortunately due to a severe back injury I suffered in fall 2022 I have not been able to focus much on my research up until recently! The back injury resulted in me putting all of my attention on my mental and physical health, with a splash of research here and there. Two and a half years of extensive nerve pain resulted in me switching gears to a complete and total molecular approach. of course this means that I don't get out into the field as often, but it keeps my back healthy and happy. The results that we have been getting are showing pretty promising that we will be able to find some valuable life-history information. Looking forward to getting back into the groove or research again!

About This Project

'Opihi are a culturally important marine limpet found only within the Hawaiian Islands. Considered a delicacy, this limpet is favored among many and can be found at luaus and some seafood markets across the islands. Due to their popularity and high market price, populations of 'opihi have become over-harvested. To minimize harvesting pressures, we aim to use novel biochemical techniques to improve laboratory-based rearing and prevent the loss of this organism.

Blast off!
