Thank you for your support!

We can't thank you all enough for your generous support. Your backing is hugely important for our project and we appreciate it immensely! Fuel prices are still going up in the DRC and the domestic flights are more expensive than we had envisaged, but we hope to continue to raise funds over the coming days.

We will be sure to take lots of photos in the field and we're really excited to see what our research will reveal about this vital ecosystem... We can't wait to share it with you!

Thank you all again,

Joe, Cassie & Joseph

About This Project

Carbon can be removed from the atmosphere and stored in peat through numerous biogeochemical processes, potentially providing a net-cooling effect. The Congo Basin's peatlands store the carbon equivalent of 20 years of fossil fuel emissions from the USA, so protecting this ecosystem is vital. We seek to explore how people, plants and birds function and interact in this ecosystem to provide insight into the state of these peatlands and inform conservation policies accordingly.
