Reduced Budget Thanks to Friendly Help!

As you may know from my last update, I am island hopping this week.  Big Island, here I come!  A very good friend of mine has offered to cover this and the next few island-hopping trips, which has allowed me to reduce the budget accordingly!

Upon reflection, while it would be wonderful to have travel covered in the budget, it is of the upmost importance that the equipment kits have been covered, as this will truly allow me to recruit undergraduate volunteers to help me with research and gain experience!  Most importantly, I won't have to run around collecting data all by myself :)

With that being said, we are now much closer to our goal - we are at 66%!  This means that we are less than $900 away from our goal!

Stay tuned for a video blog later this week and an update on more pledge incentives you can receive if you contribute to this project!  To check out the remaining incentives, check out the project page...there are still 7 bags of Birds and Beans coffee to be claimed for those that pledge $75+!

Have a great night,

Wanda

PS: Nearly 9 days left! :)

About This Project

Birdsong is an essential adaptation of songbirds, which helps ensure reproductive success. The goal of this project is to use birdsong as a measure to see if speciation is occurring between island and mainland populations of non-native birds. Such research has never been done before in Hawaii, and looking at non-native birds will also help understand the effects human impacts have on birdsong in an urban landscape.
Blast off!
