Baja Bound!

The chaos before the completely organized packing begins!

Headed to Baja tomorrow morning, probably around sunrise. I'll be posting pics whenever possible from there.

The goals for this particular field trip are modest and it's much shorter than usual, but still crucial. In particular, grabbing the climate data from the data loggers on Isla Magdalena and replacing their batteries. Also, getting tissue from the *only* taxon in the Baja Mammillaria that I don't yet have tissue for. And locating examples of Cochemiea poselgeri on Cerro Colorado outside San Ignacio, the farthest north known.

About This Project

I am developing and applying innovative population genetics data analysis with habitat suitability modeling to solve longstanding challenges in the effort to save endangered plant species. Combining high throughput RADseq data analysis with species distribution models, I am exploring relatively inexpensive, feasible methods to generate powerful population viability assessments, estimates of threshold population size and the constraints on the habitats of rare plants.

Blast off!
