 Research delay due to COVID-19

Thanks so much to everyone who donated to my project. Your donations are now approved by The University of Tokyo now and I can start the research. However, although travel to museum is essential for my research, spread of COVID-19 prevent me from the traveling. This means that I can't start the sampling of specimens. Therefore, I will extend the start of travel to Europe until the end of activity in COVID-19.

Searching for new deep sea brittle star species in museum specimens

The deep sea brittle star or Asteronyx loveni collections at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris and the Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm have never been sequenced. The museum specimens were collected from the South-Pacific Ocean/Antarctic Ocean and Atlantic/North Sea. I will go to Europe to collect samples to sequence the mitochondrial COI DNA region of up to 100 specimens. The mitochondrial COI DNA region may reveal new species of deep sea brittle star.
